Coming Soon: Alcatel One Touch 993

Alcatel has been focusing on smartphones, releasing one phone after the other, at a very competitive and affordable price. Although, it seems in the Philippine mobile market, the French company has mellowed a bit, after Lenovo and its P700 gained the spotlight.

I don't know when will Alcatel release this phone in the country, but according to GSMArena, its scheduled to be released August this year. What I'm talking about is the Alcatel One Touch 993, one of the phones presented at the MWC 2012 (Mobile World Congress 2012).
Alcatel One Touch 993
Alcatel One Touch 993, if it will be released here, (and i'm hoping it will) will be a strong contender against Lenovo P700. They almost have the same specifications, except for the battery. The phone is also slim and is truly a beauty. If it will have a lower price than Lenovo's battery monster, One Touch 993 will surely be a hit. Plus, it will be the first Alcatel phone to run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box!
Here are Alcatel One Touch 993 specifications:
  • 4.0" TFT capacitive touchscreen, 16 M colors 480 x 800 pixels, (233 ppi pixel density)
  • 1 GHZ CPU
  • internal memory (?), memory expandable up to 32 GB
  • 5MP rear camera with autofocus and LED flash, VGA front camera
  • bluetooth, wi-fi, accelerometer, A-GPS, stereo FM radio
  • 1,500 mAh battery
  • Android 4.0 ICS

Connected Me: A Threat to Bluetooth and USB

Transferring files through USB with those wires that easily gets tangled is truly a hassle. Even transferring through Bluetooth becomes a problem because of pairing. To solve this, Ericsson is currently on development with a new technology: file transfer by simple human touch.

The system is called Connected Me and is using the human body as a vehicle to transfer files. Using our body's natural electricity, the data is then captured by a machine. And since our body is mostly made up of water, which is the best conductor, our bodies are perfect for this process.

When this technology becomes available, it will become a threat to the existence of USB drives and Bluetooth transfer technology.

Limbo: A Freakingly Good Game

There are thousands and thousands of good games around. I have many titles installed in my PC but I end up   bored of playing them. Then yesterday I was searching for simple games that's worth playing, and Limbo came to my sight on a Youtube video.

For that person who keeps on putting stupid comments: Limbo is NOT a new game (it's 2010) but I first saw it the other day and this blog is not limited to recently released games.

So I played this award-winning game yesterday and guess what, I became very hooked with the game. (still not finish though) It's eerie, freaky, weird, and all things like that, but it's very addictive, promise! (the game is in black and white and lots of dead bodies around). It is a puzzle-platform video game developed by Playdead. You will die many times in the game for sure but I don't want to spoil you so get the game and download it at Limbo's official site: It's available for PC, Mac, XBOX 360 and PS, and just recently on Linux.

You can also get it through for $9.99 or about PHP417.

Nokia's Plan B: Android

On a TV interview, Risma Siilasmaa, a member of Nokia's Board of Directors, said that the company may switch to Android if Windows Phone 8 fails to do so.

Although the Finnish phone maker is rejecting the idea of putting Google's OS to their phones, it may be their last resort. But Siilasmaa added that WP8's magic seems to be working, and they may not turn into this option.

QUESTION: If Nokia joins in the Android camp, will people like it? But this seems impossible, as Nokia and Microsoft may have a clause in their contract. What do you think?

New Lara Croft Voice Actress Revealed!

Tomb Raider has always been my favorite game. Even though I haven't played all the games in the franchise, I always enjoy playing it. The last installment I played is Tomb Raider Underworld, and it was a blast! But now, I'm really excited on the newest game in the franchise which is a reboot of the series. I have seen it in the preview at the E3, and all I can say is wow! The game shows a new Lara: fresh from the academy. Instead of the usual fearless Lara, the heroine's now full of emotions and fear, but she overcame this and survive to be what she is as we originally know.

Also, the new Lara has a new voice actress. Keeley Hawes, who has voiced Lara for four years, will not be returning for the reboot. It was not until June 26, 2012, when Crystal Dynamics revealed that Camilla Luddington is the new voice actress. (If you are watching True Blood, she is Claudette Crane.)
