Lenovo Mobile Philippines hints new phone through teaser photo

Lenovo Mobile Philippines, through Facebook posted a teaser photo for an upcoming phone. Here's the photo:

Lenovo's teaser photo for an upcoming phone. I wonder what it is?
As I read the comments on the post, lots of other Lenovo units emerged, the Lenovo A660 (the waterproof phone), K860, A879, and P700i (an upgrade to Lenovo P700).

Of all the units mentioned above, on my opinion, it's the Lenovo P700i that is the closest. First, looking at the caption above, "Great Power now comes with Great Speed", which to me, sounds like an upgrade from a less powerful phone. Lenovo P700i is obviously an upgrade to the Lenovo P700, which now is powered with a dual core 1.0 GHz processor, compared to the latter's single core 1.0 GHz.

But who knows? Let's just see when Lenovo Mobile Philippines reveal it.

The search engine giant and owner of Android has been part of our lives for 14 years already! Once again, Happy 14th birthday Google!

Google Play celebrates 25 billion downloads

Good news to all Android fans out there who loves to download apps and games at Google Play: In part of their celebration for the 25 billion downloads made on their store, Google slashes 75+% off on paid apps!

Google Playstore's success could be attributed to the success of Android OS as well. Thousands and thousands of apps, free or paid, are available, attracting consumers to switch to Android phones. I myself want an Android phone now. But who knows? Will they stay forever? Or iTunes and Windows Marketplace, or even the Nokia Store will take over?

Nokia Asha 308

Nokia Asha 308 has the same 3" display that runs in the family, but now it has a capacitive screen that is more responsive than his resistive-screened siblings. Motorola hits Apple's map through ad

As we all know, Apple has removed Google Map on its list of apps for its latest iPhone 5, as they are making their own map app. And now it's out, lots of mobile manufacturers are criticizing Apple's map, first Nokia, now Motorola.

Here's how Nokia did it with Samsung Galaxy SIII and Apple iPhone 5:

Nokia Maps vs. Google Map and Apple Maps
In the comparison above, Nokia Maps is an obvious winner against the veteran Google Maps and the new Apple Maps.

And just recently, Motorola, which is owned by Google, attacked iPhone 5 through an ad, as shown below:

Motorola Droid RAZR M ad

As shown in the advertisement above, the new Apple Maps will get you lost compared to the satellite view of Google Maps. Of course, Google Maps is a veteran in this field, compared to the newbie Apple Maps, which to me looks like a half-completed map.

What do you think is the best map? Google Map? Nokia Map? Wlll it be a good move for Apple to return the Google Map for its new smartphone? You decide.

OFFTOPIC: Is mobile ad wars a trend today? Ever since Samsung attacked Apple's iPhone 5 through a picture and video ad, Nokia and Motorola followed suit. Looks like this is gonna be a wild competition between mobile empires!

Cherry Mobile W100 and Candy TV: Android experience below 4K

Smartphone competition in the local scene is really becoming stiff, with local and foreign manufacturers selling Android phones at aggressive prices. To show that they're not behind the competition, Cherry Mobile has released two Android phones, W100 and Candy TV, at a very low price below PHP 4,000.

Cherry Mobile W100
Cherry Mobile W100 is a smartphone with a 1GHz Snapdragon processor. It sports a 3.5" IPS HVGA LCD capacitive screen, which is large enough for most users. In addition to that, it is 5-point multitouch. A standard 512MB internal memory is onboard, and it can be expanded via a 32GB microSD card. On the photography department, it has a 3MP rear camera as well as a front camera. Another bonus is the dual-sim capability. For connectivity, it has Wi-Fi and 3G capability. It runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. And this is all for a very low price of PHP 3,499 only! It's very surprising how Cherry Mobile came to that price tag, knowing that it has lots and lots of features not present on other mobiles at that level.

The next phone, as shown above, is the Cherry Mobile Candy. It has the same 1GHz processor, IPS LCD capacitive screen, 512MB internal memory, and dual-sim capability with W100. The rear camera is at 2MP and a VGA at front. A special plus is the Mobile TV, wherein you can watch free TV channels anytime at your phone! And this again at a surprisingly low price of PHP 3.299

Looks like a good job for Cherry Mobile to pack such features on an Android phones at such very affordable price. Now I wonder what other manufacturers will do. Anyways, to anyone who have this phones, please feel free to make a comment regading your experience with this devices. Thanks!

Samsung hits Apple's iPhone 5 through SIII ad

After Apple has officially launched the much-awaited and anticipated iPhone 5, and also maybe because of those patent infringement cases filed against the South Korean conglomerate, which Apple had won, Samsung has posted through social networking site Facebook a Galaxy SIII advertisement directly hitting iPhone 5.

Samsung: It doesn't take a genius.

Samsung Galaxy SIII vs. iPhone 5:  Looks like an obvious win

The first picture shows Samsung's flagship phone Galaxy SIII beside the iPhone 5, obviously, with the tagline, "It doesn't take a genius", which probably refers to the people behind iPhone 5 (genius). Meanwhile, the next picture directly mentions iPhone 5 and presented there is a comparison of the two smartphones, listing all its special features. As you can see, the SIII has really outnumbered the iPhone 5.

Looks like  a head-to-head competition is coming between the two largest phonemakers. Who do you think will win? You decide.

Lenovo A660: Lenovo's first waterproof phone

Chinese IT and electronics firm Lenovo has just unveiled another phone for those who loves adventures: the Lenovo A660. This phone is Lenovo's first ever waterproof device which has an IP67 certification. That means it can resist dust and water with a limit of 1 meter for half an hour.

A660 is powered with a 1 GHz dual core processor. On the display, it has a 4" Gorilla Glass WVGA screen. For shooting purpose, it has a 5MP rear camera and a VGA front camera. Another common feature of Lenovo phones integrated on this phone is the dual-sim capability. Battery capacity is at 1500 mAh. Pricing is still yet to be revealed (I think it's going to be much cheaper than other waterproof phones) and of course, it will hit its homeland first, China.

O+ USA joins Philippine mobile market

If you're fond of watching Eat Bulaga, then you certainly have seen a new phone brand that they're endorsing, the O+. Honestly, I just saw this brand a day ago while I was surfing the other local tech blogs and sites, and it really caught my attention.

O+ is an American technology company that is trying to penetrate the Asian mobile market. Here in the Philippines, it slowly gains attention and publicity, through the noontime show Eat Bulaga, and also because their phones are unique in a way, and very affordable.

One phone that caught my attention was a phone that does not need touch, instead you just have to wave your hand in front of it. It is called 6.3 WiFi, and it's very affordable, for only PHP 3,795! By the way, here's the commercial:

Here's an image of the phone:

Another phone that again caught my attention is a very affordable phone that is almost tied  with Lenovo A60+ in specs and price, although has a smaller screen of 3.2", is the O+ 8.7 Android. It's an Android phone powered by a 1 GHz processor with a price of PHP 4,995 only!

I have read lots of positive feedbacks from new O+ phone users. They also have a tablet, along with other affordable basic phones. They are available in a lot of electronic stores as well as through Lazada.

For more information about their products, visit the official O+ USA website HERE.

Nokia Lumia 920 and 820 officially unveiled!

Today is Nokia's big day, as they are counting on these newly-launched phones on the Finnish company's fate and success.

Two Windows phones, the Lumia 920 and the Lumia 820 was finally revealed today (Sept. 5 in the US). Of the two, 920 is the flagship Lumia phone with astounding appearance and features:
  • 4.5" Puremotion HD+ display, 720p, capacitive
    • automatically adjusts on the ambient light
  • chipset: Snapdragon S4
  • CPU: 1.5 GHz dual-core Krait processor
  • GPU: Adreno 225

  • 2,000 mAh battery, nonreplaceable
  • colors: white, yellow, black
  • Special Features:
    • NFC and LTE connectivity
    • wireless charging
    • Nokia Lens, Nokia Drive, Nokia Maps
Nokia Lumia 820 (

On the other hand, Lumia 820 looks almost like its big brother but has lesser features:
  • 4.3" AMOLED WVGA capacitive screen
    •  ClearBlack technology
  • chipset: Snapdragon S4
  • CPU: 1.5 GHz dual-core Krait processor
  • GPU: Adreno 225
  • 8GB internal storage + 7GB Skydrive storage
    •  expandable through MicroSD card
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8MP camera
  • Windows Phone 8 OS
  • 1,650 mAh battery
  • Special features;
    • NFC and LTE connectivity
    • wireless charging
    • special apps
These two phones are almost in par with other high-end devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S3 and maybe, the Apple iPhone 5 (?), but with such features as Puremotion HD+, 8MP Pureview camera, wireless charging, Nokia Lens, and its ever-exquisite design makes it stand out from the crowd. But, will Nokia be successful on ascending on the throne once again? Can Windows Phone 8 do the magic to get rid of Android and iOS? Will the consumers like and buy it? You decide

iPhone 5 to be launched on September 12

Apple has finally confirmed through a teaser photo the release of its most anticipated product, the iPhone 5

As you can see in the picture above, the shadow of the number 12 (which is the launching day) forms a 5, which is obviously the iPhone 5 every Apple fanatic is waiting for. Some rumors state that the new phone will feature a bigger 4 inch screen, as well as NFC and LTE capabilities.

The launching event will be held at San Francisco, California, in the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.

Will it win the battle again to Samsung, and regain its position once more?
