Nokia 109 officially launched

Nokia has just announced a new budget S40 candybar phone, the Nokia 109. Just like its brothers, it has the traditional keypad, but with the new Nokia Xpress browser. It is aimed for the next billion who wants a very cheap phone with all the essentials like messaging, call, music and internet.

Nokia 109
Nokia 109 has the usual 1.8" TFT screen with 56K colors and 128 x 160 pixels, which for me is very OK as I own a C1-01. For your multimedia needs, it has a music player and FM radio, with recording function in selected markets. No need to worry if you want lots of music on your phone as you can expand its memory through a microSD card up to 32GB. Want everyone in the room to hear your favorite songs? Use the powerful built-in speaker that can reach up to 103 phons (unit of apparent loudness).

On the other hand, if you love to surf the internet or just post to Facebook or tweet, the new Nokia Xpress browser is there. It works like Opera Mini that compresses data to lessen operator charges which is a big plus for those who want to save money.

Games anyone? With your Nokia 109, you can download 10 EA games for free to keep forever! Such a nice bonus from Nokia and EA.

Lastly, battery standby is up to a whopping 33 days or 7.5 hours talktime! Perfect for those who hate charging every now and then.

It will be available in two colors: cyan and black, this December in China, Asia-Pacific and Europe. Price is at $42 without local taxes and subsidies. (PHP 1700+)
