Western Digital My Book 4TB Review

Having a backup for your files is very important, especially if you go crazy whenever you lose them (just like me!). That's where a storage device comes in place. Fortunately, Western Digital has the My Book, a desktop storage device that comes with a lot of features and space, yet affordable.

Our review unit has a 4TB capacity (that's lots and lots of storage space!!!). For those who are not familiar with My Book, it's an external desktop drive with capacities ranging from 2TB to 4TB. It works for both Windows and Mac too. So is it a good choice for a backup device? Find out more after the jump.

HP Slate 7 Extreme now available at CMK Cellphones for P13,500

Finally, the HP Slate 7 Extreme has reached the Philippine shores. I've been waiting for this powerful gaming tablet for some time already and I'm very excited to get my hands on it. For those who are not familiar with this device, the HP Slate 7 Extreme is based on NVIDIA Tegra Note 7 but with a different design (HP partnered with NVIDIA for this device). And yes, it's now available at CMK Cellphones at an unbelievably high price of P13,500, far from the $199 suggested price (about P8,800) and is pricier than the Google Nexus 7 (2013). Anyways, here are the specs:

HP Slate 7 Extreme specs:
7" HD multitouch screen, 1280 x 800 resolution
NVIDIA Tegra 4 A15 (1.8 GHz, 2MB cache, 4+1 cores)
16GB internal memory
expandable up to 32GB microSD card
5MP autofocus rear camera
0.3MP front camera
WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0, GPS connectivity
Accelerometer, Gyro, Ambient Light sensor
e-Compass, Hall-Effect sensor
microHDMI port
microUSB 2.0 port
Miracast compatible
3.5mm headphone jack
NVIDIA PureAudio
Android 4.2.2 Jellybean
4100 mAh Li-Po battery

I've been reading reviews from other tech sites and so far I haven't seen anything negative about it, except the screen should have been better. It's a gaming powerhouse and has performed excellently on benchmarks, even besting Google Nexus 7 (2013) and Amazon Kindle HD 7.

What just totally disappoints me is the price.  It's just too far from the $199 price tag it should have. Maybe I'll wait for more stores to have it. :)

So far, only CMK sells it locally. Online stores such as HP and Best Buy are all sold out. However, Newegg has stocks, in case you want to know.
